In the year 1990, Mr. Ramniranjan Agrawal and his son, Mr. Manish Agrawal, embarked on a pioneering journey by establishing Omicron Power Engineers Private Limited in Aurangabad.
Over the next three decades, their dedication and delivery focus led them to become one of the most reputed names in India’s Power Transmission sector. Omicron Power Engineers, the first vertical under
Omicron Group, today has crossed significant milestones in power transmission and infrastructure development and has ventured into Commercial Real Estate. Today, we meet with Mr. Manish Agrawal, the Managing Director of Omicron Group to understand more about their journey.
Could you tell us about Omicron’s journey and some of the key achievements?
I joined my father in 1990, in founding Omicron Power Engineers in Aurangabad. I had graduated as a gold medalist from Don Bosco School but had to join the family business right away. There in Omicron Power Engineers, I learnt the ropes of the industry and graduated from being a manager to managing the Company over the years. Progressively, we started winning contracts on merit from various state government departments with increasing frequency.
At some point, Omicron Power Engineers had delivered over 1200 MVA in EHV Sub-stations with over 600 km of transmission lines installed. We successfully delivered over 800 integrated Substation Units, transformers, lines, and turn-key solutions in 9 states of India. Alongside, working with corporates like Siemens and Tissa Hydro Power Plant, the Power business had prepared us for a competitive role in the private sector. Between 1990 to 2009 we saw the Power revenues grow by almost 100X to become an important growth driver for the Group.
